Hi There - 10K

So, Blake Dan and I started running about a month ago. We trained for about three weeks straight leading up to our first 10k on August 31st, 2008. The NIKE HUMAN RACE, in New York City. 10k=6.2miles or 24.8 laps around a track.

We learned a lot from the race, for instance my strategy was to find a little tushy I liked, and chase it. When I lost that tushy, I would find another tushy to chase.
WARNING: Do not use this strategy at any other time in your life.

More info about the race can be found by clicking here.

Matt is right.

I am reminded of a saying that kept me going throughout...

"...Run Forest Run..."

A story of a physically/mentally challenged individual was able to run across the country not because he had to or felt the obligation but rather he felt the road was his companion. He just "wanted to run" as that humorous yet sentimental line always strikes my heart.

It is a testament to the true nature of man. I just want to run, I just want to eat, I just want to sleep. I just want to be one with the earth.

So next time you put on your magical slippers that take you on a journey into the earth by way of running remember that little boy who broke free of his shackles that were his leg braces and ran. He never stopped. Neither can we.
