Its Blake here, Blake Premer that is. So Iam at work right now and I have that feeling I have no idea what is going on. to use a fictitious Dialogue
Boss: "Blake"
Me: "please sir please"
Boss: "excuse me?"
Me: " um sorry, I mean yes"
Boss: "Need you to update the system with a TQC code, keeping in mind that the Registry is fixed"
Me: "Huh??! said in an older gentleman tone
Boss: " You know the TQC code but keep in mind that key registry alpha 9erbravo
Me:" O yea the Bravo, why didn't you say that in the beginning, Not a problem"
But here is the problem. I have no idea what TQC is and Registry?Bravo? Is she ok?
Running is a little different. I know whats going on. I know the more I run the better I feel and the more endurance I have. For all those out there, doesn't have to be work, who are frustrated they are not good at a certain activity pick up running, you have a chance to be really good at it. All it takes is some dedication, but you make the rules and the goals. If your goal is a ten minute mile then start running, and little by little watch yourself improve, results are 100 percent guaranteed and fun to achieve. So start an activity where your in control, and when your getting tired after mile 3 just pretend the person right behind you is your boss asking for the TQC code, and you'll have to provide it if he catches up!

8:45 am: my thoughts"Wow, I need to pee before this race starts, otherwise...hmm, that girl is cute over there maybe if I can I will keep up just close enough to her that she'll notice me....oh wow, look at those punks over there, I really want to beat them just to prove to them they aren't so cool..."
8:56 am: me: "Matt, you ready for this big boy?
matt: "Buddy, I was born ready, don't throw the candy so hard (A loud grunt resembling old Jewish grandmother to follow)."
Blake: "Shoobeedoobee dudes, I just like fun and fresh water. My life is about being fresh, without fresh you have old and who wants to be old."
Justin: "I do agree with you Blake, it makes me think of this time in China when Tim was hungry and would only eat fresh food and so he climbed a 25 ft rock wall to grasp the most succulent melon we have ever seen."
Gabe: "Hey Buddy, did I ever tell you the story when the HOT girl thought my laptop
was a Mi-cro-wave (said by accenting each syllable with a strange Southern Texas Twang."
9:00 am: The race begins and the five of us march on battle amongst ourselves to complete the race and to beat our own expectations. The pain and joy of running is feeling that burn. The burn of desire. Pushing the souls of your feet to break through pain and suffering. To meet the obstacles in front of you head on. A Roman soldier would bring with him to battle a sword and a shield and his armor. Our armor is our minds propelling us to victory. Our shield is our desire letting nothing penetrate our will to victory. Our sword is the striking hearts that will be filled to their fullest at the end of the race. I say you at our next race let us have our shields held high, our armor strung tight and our swords raised to the heavens exposing our naked hearts.

NPC 5K - A Culinary Review

For those of you who have never run a 5K and then ate pancakes at the National Press Club, you have not lived. There is nothing better than running for a sweaty 33 minutes and then dining in the National Press Club ballroom.
The food after the race was superb. We all expected to go through a buffet line outside on the street and eat pancakes that tasted like cardboard on paper plates. Boy did the folks over at the NPC kick it up a notch. We had a scrumptious breakfast served to us by waiters.
There was freshly squeezed OJ, coffee and my drink of choice... water. If only they had mimosas then we could have really started off the day right. Everyone was served (on fine china) 2 fluffy scrambled eggs, a few silver dollar pancakes and 3 strips of bacon along with our choice of fresh muffins and pastries. I recommend the cinnamon rolls topped with pecans for those of you who are running the race next year.
The NPC 5K was a blast. I definitely was spoiled to run this race as my first 5K. I can't wait to see all you buddies out there next year~!

National Press Club 5K!

Today, Me, Dan, Blake, Justin T. Arrington, and Gabe ran the 11th Annual National Press Club 5K.
We all did well, and the best part was the pancake breakfast following the race which Gabe will get into more deeply.
We all have little tricks when we run, to pass the time. Sometimes just looking at all the people pushing hard keeps your adrenaline pumping, but other times you need to do something else. I, for instance, like to play a little game in my head where I look at everyone running and figure out who would be the easiest/hardest to murder. After I figure that out, I plan out how and where and most importantly when...
The other guys have their own techniques, for instance, Gabe likes to read his haf-torah portion while he runs, and Dan likes to stare and smile at people he's running next to until they are uncomfortable. Whatever your strategy is, keep running, and always remember if we can do it, you can do it (unless you are clearly obese or disabled.)

Run, Run, Run....
Matt is right.
I am reminded of a saying that kept me going throughout...
"...Run Forest Run..."
A story of a physically/mentally challenged individual was able to run across the country not because he had to or felt the obligation but rather he felt the road was his companion. He just "wanted to run" as that humorous yet sentimental line always strikes my heart.
It is a testament to the true nature of man. I just want to run, I just want to eat, I just want to sleep. I just want to be one with the earth.
So next time you put on your magical slippers that take you on a journey into the earth by way of running remember that little boy who broke free of his shackles that were his leg braces and ran. He never stopped. Neither can we.

Hi There - 10K

So, Blake Dan and I started running about a month ago. We trained for about three weeks straight leading up to our first 10k on August 31st, 2008. The NIKE HUMAN RACE, in New York City. 10k=6.2miles or 24.8 laps around a track.
We learned a lot from the race, for instance my strategy was to find a little tushy I liked, and chase it. When I lost that tushy, I would find another tushy to chase.
WARNING: Do not use this strategy at any other time in your life.
More info about the race can be found by clicking here.
